About
This year’s Spring Trip will be a Family Camp Out. We will be tent camping at one of our council’s lesser known properties, Camp Rotary. It is a 25-acre “primitive” campground on Lake Hartwell.
Where?
Camp Rotary
52 Rotary Boyscout Dr, Hartwell, GA 30643
When?
Friday, March 12, 2021 – Sunday, March 14, 2021
What?
Our activity plans are fluid based on our attendance, the age of participants, and the COVID-19 caseload in the days leading up to our campout. Our plans include an outdoor movie, fellowship around the campfire, and opportunities to hike and fish.
We have reserved 6 campsites at Camp Rotary so we have plenty of space to spread out. We will form groups of up to 25 participants on each camp site, and this group will stay together for the entire weekend. Each group of 25 is your ‘Camping Pod’ and we won’t intermingle between groups once they are formed. We will coordinate activity times so that these pods have opportunities to hike, fish, and enjoy other outdoor activities without intermingling.
We have had one parent volunteer to prepare a smoked pork BBQ dinner on Saturday night. There will be a small charge for this meal (TBD based on the number of reservations). We will not be gathering to eat but will coordinate a pick up or delivery of reserved meals to each camp site on Saturday evening. If your family wishes to prepare your own dinner on your campfire or camp stove, you are certainly welcome to do so! Families and/or dens are welcome to coordinate meal planning for breakfasts, lunches, snacks , drinks within the campsite pods.
We ask that every participant (scout, parent or sibling) wear a face covering and practice social distancing, even though we will be outside for the entire weekend. Any scout, adult or family member who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, have exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 or had contact with a person that has or is suspected of having COVID-19 within the past fourteen days should NOT attend the camp out. We ask all participants to screen their family for temperature and other symptoms before leaving. The Pack will screen the temperatures of all participants on arrival, and ask that families continue to monitor for symptoms of any illness and to leave the camp out if someone becomes ill.
The great news is that Camp Rotary is FREE!! If your family is interested, please register knowing you can change your mind later. We are working on activity plans based on the number of possible participants, so please register even if you are on the fence.
