Coming to Back to the Pack? Bring a drink or dessert

swimming-pool-vector-illustration_zJbI91I_We’ve had a much better than expected response for Sunday’s Back to the Pack pool party and are currently expecting more than 110 people.

As a result, we’re over budget on the facility rental expense and need to ask for your help with food and drinks.

Wolves should bring drinks (bottled water, juice boxes, etc) and Bears/Webelos should bring a dessert (cookies, cupcakes, brownies, etc) to share. We would like to keep this simple to minimize setup and cleanup.

Here are a few points to note:

Date: Sunday, August 16

Time: 6:30-8:30pm

Location: Mountain Park Aquatic Center. Park in the main parking lots adjacent to Rockbridge Road and enter the main doors of the Aquatic Center.

Food: Wolves bring drinks. Bears and Webelos bring dessert.

Please take a look at the center’s What to Wear document and refer to the Pool Rules if you have any questions about what you can bring.

Inclement Weather

The facility will provide alternate arrangements if the weather is unsafe for use of the outdoor leisure pool. We will send out an email and announce on Facebook only if the event is canceled.

View from Laurel Ridge Trail on the backside of Buford Dam

The August Hiking Club hike will be at Laurel Ridge Trail at Buford Dam on Aug. 22.This moderate trail is a roughly 4-mile loop that features a few modest ascents but is otherwise mostly flat, with lots of wildlife and good views. We should have patches available for hikers by this hike, so come on out!

May Pack Meeting features inflatable, ice cream and rank-up ceremony

pack meetingThe payoff for a year of hard work for the scouts of Pack 564 will be the May Pack Meeting at 7 p.m. in the upper parking lot and amphitheater at Mountain Park United Methodist Church on Tuesday, May 12.

After our opening ceremony, some brief updates on upcoming events, achievements and a special ranking up ceremony in which all the boys in attendance will get their neckerchief for the next rank, we’ll serve Bruster’s ice cream with toppings and turn the scouts loose on an inflatable obstacle course.

Don’t miss out on this official “end of the year” pack meeting. Of course, we’ll continue to meet for events throughout the summer, including a Raingutter Regatta, hike and laser show at Stone Mountain and our annual “Back-to-the-Pack” Pool Party. But don’t let your scout miss out on this fun celebration of a great year of scouting.

See you there!
