The annual fall popcorn sale is the pack’s primary fund-raiser, providing the overwhelming majority of funds the pack needs to pay for the hundreds of awards earned by boys each year, Pinewood Derby cars, our Back to the Pack pool party, the end-of-year ice cream party and more. It also helps fund council and district activities, including summer camps and other programs.

As the Law of the Pack says, it’s the Cub Scout’s duty to help the pack go, so you and your son get the satisfaction of knowing that you’ve helped do your part. And if you meet your sales quota, you can also enjoy the entire year of scouting with no out of pocket expenses for events such as the Pinewood Derby, Blue and Gold, etc. If you exceed your quota, you can actually earn Cub Bucks to help offset the already modest costs of other scouting activities, such as fall family camping, the spring trip and summer camp! And as if that’s not enough, the pack has also put together a great incentive program.

Cub Bucks are credits you can use for pack events. You’ll be credited with Cub Bucks for a 15 percent of any sales over $325. If you sell $425, your account would be credited with $15.

Each scout needs to sell $325 to offset their pack dues and fees. If you choose not to sell popcorn, full dues will be owed. If you meet part of the goal, a pro-rated amount of dues will be charged.

You should try to sign up for at least one Show and Sell booth shift. Watch your email for details. You can accompany your scout selling door-to-door in your neighborhood. You can ask friends and family to support your son’s scouting journey by purchasing popcorn or donating an order to our troops. You can also bring an order form to work.

Donations will be evenly divided between the two scouts working each shift.

Yes, but we highly recommend you save this option for out-of-town friends and family, as they will have to pay shipping and handling. Visit http://sell.trails-end.com/ to set up your online account, customize emails and establish a mailing list. The Northeast Georgia Council has instructions.

• ALWAYS wear your uniform
• ALWAYS smile and introduce yourself
• ALWAYS tell your customers why you are selling popcorn. Sell scouting as much or more than the popcorn!
• KNOW the different kinds of popcorn you are selling
• ALWAYS say “Thank You”
• ALWAYS make a copy of your order form
• ALWAYS have a clean order form with a pen
• BE SURE to get customer email addresses to send them a “Thank You” email after the sale, reminding them they can re-order online.

Point customers toward the popcorn-for-troops option. Any smaller donations you collect should be pooled to purchase a military donation.

Orders are due towards the end of October. Ask your den leader or the Popcorn Kernel for more specific information.

You’ll need to deliver orders to customers you solicited in person. Online orders will be delivered directly to the purchasers.
