Action-packed summer coming up!

summer-design_fk4iQEOd_LIt’s almost summertime, but that doesn’t mean the Cub Scout fun has to end! Pack 564 stays active all year round with fun activities.

Before you head off to the beach, Disney World or wherever your summer vacation will take you, take a minute to check out this list of upcoming activities.

SummertimeAward_largeBy attending three or more, your scout will earn the Summertime Pack Award pin!

June

The annual Raingutter Regatta returns June 14, offering scouts the opportunity to build a swift sailboat fit to navigate the treacherous waters of the Pack 564 rain gutters.

Summer is prime hiking time, and the hiking club will gather on June 18 for our first hike of the season. We will hike Sweetwater Creek State Park.

July

We return to Stone Mountain in July for a Picnic and Laser Show. We won’t be hiking Stone Mountain this year. Scouts should wear Class As to show some Cub Scout pride!

We’ll also have another Hiking Club Hike on July 23 at 10 a.m. The location for this hike is also yet to be determined.

August

Join us Aug. 2 at 7:15 p.m. at MPUMC for the First Parent/Leader meeting of the year. We’ll start gearing up for the upcoming school year at this important meeting, so please try to attend!

The annual Back to the Pack Pool Party returns to the Mountain Park Aquatic Center on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. Plan on bringing a dessert!

The last Hiking Club Hike of the summer will happen Aug. 20 at Sope Creek Trail.

Pinewood Derby Update

pinewood bannerAfter being postponed on account of weather last weekend, the Pinewood Derby is on track to be held this weekend, Jan. 29-30, at Camp Creek Elementary School.

Although the pack has not yet submitted the necessary paperwork to confirm the dates, we’ve been told the school is available Friday and Saturday and expect to have formal confirmation today.

The schedule would remain the same as last weekend: check in Friday night with races and a min pack meeting Saturday morning.

This post will be updated once we have everything locked down. Please check back later for updates.

Update 1:  If your family has a conflict with the new date, race officials can race your car or cars for you. You will just need to register on Friday or make arrangements for someone else to register for you.
