Sweetwater Loop-a-Rama Dec. 13

Cub_Scout_Wildlife_ConservationThe early registration deadline has passed, but you have until Thursday for discounted registration to the 2014 Sweetwater District Loop-A-Rama.

Scouts will be able to earn two loops — one academic and one sports — at this event at Cooper Elementary School in Loganville.

Choices include Volleyball, Marbles, Badminton, Physical Fitness, Soccer, Geography, Geology, Chess, Map & Compass and Wildlife Conservation plus the Communications or Handyman activity pins for Webelos.

Remember … belt loops are going away next year so this is a good opportunity for your scouts to pick up a few extras.

More information, including registration details, are available on the NEGA site.

New Cub Scout program finalized

CubScout_4KAs you may know, the Cub Scout program is changing, effective next year. Scouts will undertake a new series of “adventures” on the road to each rank.

The new program is now finalized, with a few minor revisions.

You can find all of the new requirements, a brief description of what adventures are all about and more at the Program Updates page.

These changes are due to go into effect next fall.

Autism Awareness for Scouters

Pack 564’s Carter Gibson gave a presentation on autism awareness in scouting at the Parent Leader Meeting on Sept. 2.

It contains great tips for leaders, and is well worth a read.

Relax! Most leadership skills used with all boys will also work well for Scouts with autism.
