This month's pack hike is at Island Ford (National Recreation Area) by the Chattahoochee river. Scouts must be accompanied by at least one parent. We will meet at the first parking lot when you enter the park (which will be on your left) about 1000 feet from the entrance. There are several other parking places and a visitor center. Please make sure to stop at the first parking lot on your left which is not the visitor center. This hike will have a substantial elevation difference down to the river and will be about 3 miles in length. Please bring a snack/lunch since we will take a break by the Chattahoochee river. During the hike we will learn about:
– How a river valley is formed
– Look for different kinds of rocks (mostly sedimentary rocks at this location)
