pinewood bannerYour son got his Pinewood Derby car at Tuesday night’s pack meeting. Now what?

Your first stop should be the new Pack 564 Pinewood Derby web page, which is chock full of helpful information, including rules, links to resources such as the sign-in inspection sheet, and lots more.

The pack derby is scheduled to start with Tiger division races at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, with check-in the night before from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Online registration is now open for the Spring Trip!

registration iconRegistration is now open for the Spring Trip, and we’ve made it easier than ever before to sign up and settle up with online registration and payment!

All it takes is three easy steps:

1. Go to the Spring Trip page and click on the “Register now for the spring trip!” banner at the top of the page.

2. Fill out the form. Don’t forget to enter a valid Cub Bucks amount if you want to use them for this trip (log in to TroopTrack to check your son’s money account before registering).

3. Choose your payment method (you can select from credit card/PayPal, cash or check) and complete your transaction. If you’re paying the full balance with Cub Bucks, you don’t need to do anything. If you’re paying with cash or check, just bring your payment into the December or January pack meetings. If you are paying by credit card or PayPal, you’ll be taken automatically to the PayPal website to complete payment. You do not have to create a PayPal account to use this option. Also note that your PayPal receipt will come from Nathan Stephens, who is the pack treasurer.  You’ll also receive a confirmation email with details of your registration.

That’s it! You’re ready to blast off with the pack at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center!

You can also register in person (using these same online forms) through the January pack meeting. Online registration will continue through the end of January.

If you have questions, please contact Spring Trip Coordinator Christine Pearson.

Lilburn Christmas parade is Saturday

Pack 564 will once again be participating in the Lilburn Christmas Parade
Pack 564 scouts will again march in the Lilburn Christmas Parade.

UPDATED: Changes rally point and need to bring your own candy.

Once again, Pack 564 will be participating in the Lilburn Christmas Parade.

We will need to report to the check-in at Salem Missionary Baptist Church on Poplar by 8:45 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 6.

If you’d like to walk in the parade, just have your scout show up in Class A uniform.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. and the route is 1 mile. Beginning near the intersection of Main and Young Streets, the route continues down Main Street to Lilburn City Hall. It typically concludes by 11:30 a.m.

You will need to bring your own candy to toss to onlookers.

Sweetwater Loop-a-Rama Dec. 13

Cub_Scout_Wildlife_ConservationThe early registration deadline has passed, but you have until Thursday for discounted registration to the 2014 Sweetwater District Loop-A-Rama.

Scouts will be able to earn two loops — one academic and one sports — at this event at Cooper Elementary School in Loganville.

Choices include Volleyball, Marbles, Badminton, Physical Fitness, Soccer, Geography, Geology, Chess, Map & Compass and Wildlife Conservation plus the Communications or Handyman activity pins for Webelos.

Remember … belt loops are going away next year so this is a good opportunity for your scouts to pick up a few extras.

More information, including registration details, are available on the NEGA site.

What’s coming up at Tuesday’s pack meeting

pack meetingHere’s a look at what’s coming up at Tuesday’s pack meeting, which returns to Mountain Park United Methodist Church:

  • Lad and Dad Cake Bake entries must be registered between 6:30 and 7. Entry fee is a bag of canned goods for the Lilburn Co-op. Results will be announced at the end of the meeting. For details on the competition, see the Cake Bake page.
  • Spring Trip Coordinator Christine Pearson will reveal details about where we’re going and what we’re doing.
  • Popcorn Chairman Jeff Wilson will give us our final update on sales, and he’ll get a pie in the face from several scouts.
  • Registration will open for December’s holiday party, and continue for Pack Night at the Gladiators.
  • Finally, we’ll take a moment to reflect on citizenship, and to thank our veterans for their service.
