Back to the Pack this Sunday

All returning scouts and their families will gather at 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 17, for the Back-to-the-Pack Pool Party at the Hanarry Estates Pool, 595 Johannah Pl SW, Lilburn, GA. An e-vite will be going out this week to get a head count, so watch your email.

The Pack is providing hamburgers, hotdogs, buns, paper products, lemonade and water. All scout families should bring a side dish or dessert to share.

This event is required for Summer Activity Award, and it’s a great time to get everyone back together to start the year.

See you there!

Thanks for a great year!

Way back in August when we started our scouting year with the Back-to-the- Pack Pool Party for returning scouts and Round Up for new scouts, the path ahead was nothing more than dates and plans.

What helped these plans come to fruition was your involvement.

From den and pack meetings to special events, you turned out and participated with great enthusiasm, and our scouts were the beneficiaries.

Here’s the rundown on all we accomplished together:

In September and October, we had a great family camping trip and sold nearly $10,000 worth of Trails End Popcorn.

In November, we collected food for needy families in Lilburn through the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry’s Harvest for the Hungry.

December brought our Holidays Around the World celebration, where we tried new foods and learned about other cultures. We also started on our Pinewood Derby cars.

January saw the Pinewood Derby, with 68 competitors, and honors for our top popcorn sellers.

We bundled up against the snow in February and rode the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in North Carolina.

We had a great Blue & Gold Banquet in March, with many of our scouts achieving their rank badges. We also said goodbye to our Webelos IIs who crossed over to Boy Scouting. We also enjoyed Pack Night at the Gwinnett Gladiators.

In April, we welcomed the Reptile Wrangler and learned about local and exotic animals. We also sold Camp Cards raising money for the pack.

And tonight, we will present all of our active scouts who are moving up a neckerchief for their next rank and celebrate a great year with ice cream!

Looking back, we accomplished a lot. We couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for a great year.

Sweetwater Speed

Tigers Peter Rennick and Beckett Lynch from Den 13 came in second and third, respectively, in their division at the Sweetwater District Pinewood Derby at the 2014 Scout Show. Peter advanced to the council finals and came in third.

Nate Robinett from Den 6 also took part in the district races, but a registration error saw him competing with the older scouts. Congratulations to Nate, Beckett and Peter for doing their best to represent Pack 564.
